How my faith shapes the way I live my life...

Beliefs express themselves in all aspects of a person's life. I'll use this page to describe how my own convictions have influenced my life and how they shape my daily activities.

Faith is not static.  I hesitate to use the words "change" or "adaptation".  I feel a better word would be clarity.  We are all ignorant when we first discover our faith.  We make mistakes.  But I feel that if we continue to learn and educate ourselves; to remain devout then we will move deeper into our spirits and reach true communication with the divine.

The fundamental principals that I follow is the Ancient Egyptian law of Ma'at.  Sekhmet is often called the Guardian or Protector of Ma'at.  She serves as divine justice.  She is the Mother who comes forth to discipline Her child.  She protects those who honor Ma'at.  She is the one Before Whom Evil Trembles.

However, before I can go in to a more in depth study of Sekhmet, I feel I should first explain the concept of Ma'at for those unfamiliar with the term.

Rameses the Great making an offering to Sekhmet

"Ma'at was reality, the solid grounding of reality that made the Sun rise, the stars shine, the river flood and mankind think. The universe itself, all the world around them, was sacred in the ancient view. "Ethics" is an issue of human will and human permission. It is a function of the human world of duality. What is "ethical" for one group is sin for another. But Ma'at, the reality that made all groups what they are is transcendent of ethics, just as a rock or a flower is amoral, a-ethical, without "truth or falsehood." How can a flower be "false" or "ethical." It just is. How can the universe be "ethical or moral, right or wrong"? It simply is. That is Ma'at."
